For the My Motherhood series, we ask different women the same series questions about mindfulness and motherhood to see what works for other women, but also to show how even though we may be different, we are all in this together.
I'm so happy to be featuring Alanna on the My Motherhood blog today. Alanna is a mama, yoga teacher and essential oil educator. Her Instagram is full of inspiration, connection and a wonderful journey through her motherhood, and life in Tasmania.
What does your perfect day look like?
Rising before the sun.
Morning Yoga Practice + Meditation.
Present time with my son, Rumi.
Good, healthy food.
Sunshine.
While Rumi naps, some focused time on my work - I'm a Yoga Teacher - and study - I am currently studying Kundalini and Essentials Oils.
Writing, journaling.
An afternoon walk with my beautiful man, Nige, Rumi and our fur baby, Blackie.
Family dinner, we always eat together.
After I shower, spending time on my Self Care Rituals.
Connect with my Partner.
Early to bed.
Do you have any daily rituals you use to center yourself?
Yoga and Meditation. Even if I can only manage 20 minutes, it's an important ritual I aspire to daily.
How do you make time for the different facets of your life?
Meditation! Honestly, it's such a rich and balancing practice that brings so much harmony into our home.
There's a marked difference between days that I do and days that I don't.
Meditation inspires more creativity, perspective, acceptance, grounding and love.
I am so much more organized and effective when I meditate.
Meditation is my anchor in Motherhood...and life!
Do you have any special family rituals?
Yes, we have a few. However, my favourite is when we've had a rough day, before we start making dinner, we all get into the living room, take off our shoes, put on some funky music and dance until we laugh. It's the perfect way to let go of the day, connect and settle into the evening in peace.
What is the best advice you have ever given or received about motherhood?
To not lose myself in Motherhood. To remember who I am and what is it important for me and that my intuition holds the answers to all. A deep commitment to my Self Care Ritual has helped with this.
What is your favourite part of motherhood?
Gosh, there are so many so I will narrow it down to these few...
Birth. I felt like a complete warrior giving birth. A goddess. I will draw on that experience for a lifetime. For the first time in my life, I am truly starting to learn how divine it is to be a woman.
However, my favourite part is raising a boy into a man who loves fiercely, walks gently and never forgets how deeply he belongs. That above all else is an absolute honour.
