Caring for your Mala beads
Congratulations on your new set of Mama Malas. Although it is great to wear your Mama Malas daily as a reminder of your intent and to benefit from the energy of the stones, they are handmade and should be worn and stored with love, care, and respect. They are not meant for use during vigorous physical activity, or when sleeping, and should always be handled with care.
Mala beads are delicate by nature, and although your Mama Malas are made with the highest quality beading cord, much loved Mama Malas may need to be restrung as the beads wear against the cord over time. Whether you choose to wear your restrung mala beads will depend on the reason for the break and your intentions.
A mala breaking is considered a sign of karmic progression and is something to be fully celebrated. Gemstones have a way of releasing you when they are no longer useful, and a broken mala can symbolize lessons learned and new beginnings. It has done its work.
After having a mala breakthrough it is recommended to sit and meditate on the original description and intentions of the mala and any discoveries or progression. If you feel you experienced a mala breakthrough you can have your mala beads restrung and keep them on your altar or mirror as a symbol of your progress, or you can scatter the beads throughout your home or garden in a ceremony to celebrate the breakthrough.
If you feel that you have not yet had a breakthrough and you are still supported by the intention of the mala beads, continue to wear them after they have been restrung.
All Mama Malas are guaranteed against breakage for six months from the date of purchase. If your Mama Mala breaks within six months of purchase, send it back to us and it will be restrung and sent back to you free of charge. After six months your Mama Malas can be restrung for a restringing fee of $25 which includes return shipping and the replacement of any missing beads.
