A Quick Routine to Stay Grounded When Traveling with Kids

Traveling with kids is always a wonderful experience. Exploring new places, spending quality time together  and making memories that will last a lifetime.

It can also be a stressful experience, where we try to cram everything into a few days and put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect.

That is why I always make sure to pack a few spiritual necessities on our trips, to make sure that I take the time to recharge and renew even amidst all the excitement.

One of the first things I do when I arrive at a new place is to set up my “spiritual essentials”

I unpack my meditation blanket, essential oils, Palo Santo and any crystals or mala beads that I have taken with me in a prominent spot as a reminder to recharge daily.

This quick practice keeps me grounded and fully engaged at a time where routine makes way for unexpected adventures and new experiences.

I awake with the sun and find a quiet place to call my own.

I set out my meditation blanket placing my crystals and mala beads at the foot of it.

I then light some Palo Santo to instantly bring me into a calm and relaxed mindset and set my intention for the day.

Sitting crossed legged I place a bit of a heart opening essential oil (Moonrise Creek Wildflower Blend is my absolute favourite) on my chest and take a few deep breaths, breathing in the sweet scent and fully relaxing into my body.

After my body is relaxed, I do a few physical poses to help me feel into my body. Below are three of my favourite routines that all take under 10 minutes:

When I have about 5-10 minutes and want to release tension from my hips:

When I want to stay seated and connect to myself a bit more:

3 Mudras to Plug Back Into Your Spirit

When I want to let go of tension in my chest and open my heart:

5 Minute Heart Opening Yoga Sequence

After my physical practice, I apply my favourite grounding oil blend (Moonrise Creek Wood Blend) and move back into easy seated, or lotus, pose.

Closing my eyes I imagine myself rooting into the ground below and spend a few minutes in meditation focusing on my breath.

Afterwards, I love to go out and take a quick walk outside to fully appreciate the beauty of my new surroundings.

I would love to know, what are some steps you take to stay grounded when you travel? Be sure to comment below.

Mala beads help you enter a meditative state as you slowly trace the beads with your fingers and connect with the energy of the stones. Delicate enough for everyday wear, our mala beads make it easy to fit meditation into your day, no matter where you are.

"This mala is absolutely gorgeous and would make any mama feel powerful. The onyx is so strong and grounding, the sandalwood smells lovely, and I love that there is a little bit of rose quartz too! It’s nice to hold in your hand when you need to ground or calm down, and when you wear it, you feel like you can tackle anything! "
